My Life As I See It - Writing In My Journal PART 2

Continuing off where I left off the previous entry: My Life As I See It - Writing In My Journal from December 14, 2010. I meant to continue this a lot sooner, but I guess I just got caught up in the holiday season and work.

In the early days, I used to start my entries by writing the date (mm/dd/yyyy) and writing Dear Journal - .... Just like how Doug would start as he would also start the narration of the episode as he would explain the story of his day.

My timing as far as when varies. During the early days, I would just write it just before bedtime to reflect on the day. Other times, it would be days, if not weeks til I would be able to do like a extended writing period tryin to best of my abilities to remember when and what happened . Sometimes, I would confuse the days, and if I did for one day, I would then remember what happen before that, and then would have to do a lil rewind before goin forward.

I usually will wait til the end of the evening, just before I go to sleep to record the moments of that day, so it is still fresh and vivid in my head, so I be able to put in details that otherwise may be forgotten later on. If it gets really late though, I wait til I just felt like writing really on a whim. Not that I do write in my journal every day, so it could be a few days, weeks even, if I really want to write something, but more recently...

It has been almost a a good year since I last seriously wrote in my journal. Back in the spring, I attempted to write almost all the events that happened  in the previous few months by using twitter updates I would post on my twitter. [Follow me @vanle23], would for the most point, actually did help for me to recall what occur that day, but it was a pain to really go that far back to help me out.
I don't use the facebook update status often, but I do twitter a good bit, not nearly as much though since I don't have a smart (cell) phone with 3G, which is probably for the best as it does save me a good bit of money since I don't have to pay for like monthly service and all that. So yeah, one of the few that is on a prepaid phone plan, and use a phone to make phone calls, I do texts, but not all that much either.

While I do have random thoughts that run thought my mind, I really don't write that, unless it has to relate with an event or incident that I am referring to while I write my entry. I guess you can say thought that with my twitter updates, and this blog, that I am able to do what I want, say what I feel is to get off my chest, and the way I want to present it. Probably is one of the main reasons I reduced my writing, since I now able to take pictures, blog about it, and do instant updates of the moments and events that occur in my life at that point in time.

I use my journal as a passage of time, to record moments in my life. I consider it to be a part of my memoirs, so that when I take a second to reflect on how life was for me, I would be able to showcase how I was, and what I did at that moment at time during that point. Maybe somebody would care, who knows, but it would be nice for me to capture a memory that had an impact in my existence.

I guess in many ways, I was just able to relate so well to Doug, since we were in the similar age when it first started, and also he was just a character that I found to be likable, with a pretty active imagination. Although his adventures were enhanced since it was a cartoon afterall, it seem somewhat realistic as he was just an average kid with typical issues and questions with life, and also had people that would impact his life, for better and worst, but was able to make the best of the situation in more times than not. I did find it amusing that my friends would ask me questions related my life issues like I was really Doug, like "Who this Patti Mayonnaise that your like?", and "Would you want to get a dog like Porkchop?" Or find a way to associate characters and setting from the show to my personal life.

My Life As I See It - Writing in My Journal

I guess taking a cue from watchin the cartoon Doug (the one the Nickelodeon, before they switched it to Disney Doug on ABC), I felt like I should also write in my personal journal as well. Its funny since a few of my closest friends think that the main character Doug, is how I would be like in real life. I'll touch on a few points later comparing my life to Douglas Yancey Funnie, a dude in a cartoon.

I started writing in my journal back in summer of 1998, just before I went down to California to visit my cousins down there. I used it as a tool for my to recall the events that would occur while I was down there, something as simple as going to the store and gettin a bite to eat, and how the day went, such as playing video games to doing something a little different from the mundane typical day. At first I would write it in cursive, but as the days would go by writing in this style was more a pain than I originally anticipated, so at some point I just wrote in plain letters, in my normal writing style.

Not that I haven't noticed before, but I knew I had horrible penmanship. Guess for me, I never took the time and effect to improve on my handwriting, and even today, it looks like my handwriting was written by a elementary school kid, crooked alignment, letters all over the points. Many call it "writing with your feet" or "chicken scratch". Doug also has handwriting that looks like chicken scratch as well, when he lost his journal and his classmate Roger tried to read it, but couldn't make it out. I used a few of those sprinal bound notebook and dont plan on losing them, but not goin to worry too much if someone else gets it since I'm sure it wouldn't make much sense to them, if they were able to get past the bad writing.

Another thing that change over time while writing in my journal is tryin to shorthand or abbreviate words, which was a precursor to text-talk, such as using the number 2 for to, and so on and so forth. Over time, after getting through the AZN Pride phrase, if you want to call it that, I found it to be quite silly really, and just started to write out the whole word. I never at any point also didn't write like [ iT aLl BoUtZ ViEt-Nam-Mez], shit throws me off just tryin to write like that.

I would spend a few moments, thinking about what to write down aloud before writing it down on paper. Doug would narrate his thoughts to explain the story and get the episode goin. Once I get goin, I tend to ramble on and write much more than I thought I would, but it helps get it out of my head and on to something more tangle.

I have a pretty decent memory on events that have happened to me in my life. Like most people, some of the most memorable moments are so vivid, you can still recall the details of that moment, when it happen, what actions you did at that point, no matter how long it has been since that event took place. I write in great length about those moments, so it enhance the particulars of my memory of that moment, and be like "oh yeah, that happened too". It also help relive those forgotten moments, I guess you would call those suppressed memories since you brain can't store it all for you, so you forget about it until something triggers and you be like "damn".

I tend not to write much about my innermost, personal, emotional thoughts and feelings except for a few journal cause I feel it isn't needed, as the details will convey my mood at that time. I not the type in that I could articulate my feelings as to why I feel the various emotions like happy-mad-sad-confused sort of thing . Doug might touch up on his thoughts, but if I do, it more a reflection after the fact.

Part TWO is coming soon, realized that I probably did too much for those that actually spend time to check out the blog to read.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards in Winter

Ed Lover Dance

Origins of the beat goes back to DJ Mark the 45 King for his song - The 900 Number, which he sampled from "Unwind Yourself" by Marva Whitney. I personally know this beat from two things, a rap done by DJ Cool "Let Me Clear My Throat" which like everybody and their mommas know. The Other is if you watched Yo! MTV Raps in the early mid 90s, then you know about Ed Lover and Dr Dre (the fat one).

Before Ed Lover did the whole C'mon Son shit, he was one of the main dude in the hip hop scene, and for his dance which used that beat mentioned earlier, to do the "Ed Lover Dance"

Fuck the Dougie, we should start doin the Ed Lover Dance, shit, it gots it own theme song that goes along with it.

So I tried to figure what is Kwanzaa all about, what it represents, and is it a legit holiday to celebrate. The videos is a 2-part piece where it has young kids answers questions about what else, Kwanzaa. Although I don't know anybody that really celebrates Kwanzaa, it does has some good points of what its all about. Kwanzaa happens on December 26 to January 1.

Wiz Khalifa Teaches How to Roll a Perfect Joint

This is the rapper known for his hit "Black and Yellow" in ode to the Pittsburgh pro sports teams (Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers) who apparently blows 10K a month on that weed, and up in smoke it goes. Guess he just likes that Purple a little more.

Now I don't even smoke, never had, and never will, just a personal choice I guess. It is pretty interesting nonetheless.

Kim Dong Won - All I Want For Christmas Is You

Yes, this is the song by Mariah Carey, and yes, this is the same Korean kid who is known for his rendition of Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" on youtube. He must of been kicked in the groin a few times to hit them high notes, but somebody has to do it.

My Life As I See It - Orgins of This Blog

It has been over a year and a half since I started my own blog. While there isn't a post every single day like in the beginning, I still make a post often, ranging from music videos, pictures, and also random vlogs and things of that nature.

Since I wear hats on the regular, and have a good collection of them, I would have people ask me 'How many hats do you have?"

I didn't have a number on the amount that I had, but I knew I had a good sized collection, in different colors and styles, so I figure I should showcase my hat collection to my friends and the world, if they can view it that is. A few of my friends did the blog thing, and I tried to join them in, but they pretty much stopped, and now don't have the website up anymore. So I guess it was really done on a whim,  but I started up my blog, and put a bunch of videos up on youtube, really just to show my friends my collection of fitted hats, rant about random shit along the way, and to show the pictures I would take on a night out and what not.

So I guess you can thanks the people that used to run COUNTERFITTIN.COM for not doing much, and my selection of fitteds for the source of inspiration for the start of a good thing to come.
