[Sort of] Fitted of the Day #111

My Memory of 9/11/01

It has been 10 years sinee one of the most horrific acts in society to occurred. Unless you are under the age of 10 today, most everybody knows of the event that happened in New York as well as in DC from the attack on the World Trade Center Towers when 2 planes were hijacked from terrorist and crashed into the buildings claiming hundreds of lives and loved ones gone. Also somewhat forgotten after these years was that the Pentagon in DC was also hit, as well another plane that was suppose to attack DC, but crashed in Pennsylvania

The aftermath of this incident has had an impact in everyone's life, from knowing that people would killed, to how the effect it has in our daily life. The efforts of the New York Police and Fire Departments that responded to the assist in aiding those in the buildings as well as in the proximity to help those in dire need. Their valor and courage to answer the call of duty is celebrated to this day. Let us not forget those that lost their lives from this terrorist attacks and hope for a better tomorrow.

This moment in history has become a part of my life in which I could vividly recall much of the details that I'd experience in the initial moments after learning of what transpired on this fateful day.

At the time, I was a High School Senior at Sammamish High School (Bellevue, WA). I remembered waking up around 6:30 in the morning as it was a Tuesday morning. I was getting ready for another school day as I turned on the TV while eating a bowl of cereal to catch the morning news and to see the weather report. At first I was thinking why are they showing this... was it a commercial, or a movie? Now it didn't have like a breaking news caption or no ticker on the bottom of the screen. All it showed was one of the Twin Towers up in smoke. Then I flipped though the rest of the local channels and they were showing similar footage of what was going on live as the story was breaking, and details were developing. I was confused and trying to make sense of what was happening on TV. I left with my brother at around 7:10 am to get to school. When I arrived, I met up with several of my peers and classmates in the school commons to discuss what was going on before the school day begin.

It was a stressful day at school cause everyone was emotional from what took place. It is difficult to find a rational justification to why these attacks took place, although it came from hate and fear.
A few days later, I played in a football game in which we lose, although I feel that it was a game that was winnable, but deep down it just didn't feel quite right playing a game after what happened at Ground Zero. The days also seem to bring out both the worse and best in mankind.

People became hysterical and fearful of those of Muslin ancestry and religious belief. Since the attacks was the master plan of Al-Queda and their leader Osama Bin Laden, people were vengeful of those who even looked like they were a part of this terrorist group. In reality, this radical group represents a very small few out of billions of people, and to stereotype and categorized people as the same is pathetic. There were people from abroad who were also celebrating the events as they looked at America as the "heel", despite the fact that many people were killed for no reason at all.

Although there is still resentment, it also brought forth a celebrate of life to those that calls the United States of America their home country. It did bring people together, and a sense of Patriotism and honor of being an American. Recognizing all those who protect, from the medics, polices and firefighters everywhere who serve to protect and aid and do right in society, to all those who in the Armed Forces who fight for our basic freedoms and liberties domestic and abroad.

Once sporting events were resumed after some time off to reflect and aid, it helped people get back to a bit of normality to cheer on our teams and the games were know and love. Baseball and Football played a big part and they also celebrated and remembered those involved on that fateful day.

So let us continue to celebrate on this day to show why America is great, and not forget the lives of those who left us too soon for no reason, and let our love of life triumph over the ills and evils of society, as we'll all envision for a better tomorrow, as we learn from past mistakes and make the most of the present moments.

Possible Nike Unis for NFL Teams

Now this is not what the NFL Uniforms will be next year in 2012 when Nike becomes the official outfitters for the NFL. But its kinda an interesting concept to consider, but this has more of a take of what NFL teams would look like with college designs.
